Minimum Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's degree in library information sciences or commensurate degree with relevant experience. The successful candidate will be self-directed and demonstrate a commitment to providing exemplary customer service to health care providers, clinicians, patients, and families. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to interdisciplinary team-building and collaborative partnerships required. The individual must have knowledge of outreach education services and events programming. Academic health sciences library or clinical experience and knowledge of evidence-based practices and health information resources, and membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) preferred. *Candidates may be considered at a different title/rank and salary based on qualifications.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Clinical Outreach Librarian will be responsible for collaborating with hospital and community stakeholders to develop and maintain services that engage patients and families during their time at Upstate and enhance the health literacy of the community through health fairs and tailored programing, provide access to library resources, and ensure a strong standard of service. The successful candidate will supervise the Family Resource Center at Upstate's Cancer Center. Reporting to the Clinical Outreach Coordinator, the Clinical Outreach Librarian will deliver customized group instruction and individual consultations, provide expert searching services, support evidence-based practice, and provide outreach services to the staff, patients, and families of University Hospital using a thoughtful, proactive, and user-oriented approach. The librarian will also maintain and further develop liaison relationships with health care providers across the Upstate Health Care System by facilitating effective use of library resources and services.
