This part-time position supports the interlibrary loan lending and document delivery functions of the Interlibrary Loan department of University Library. The employee performs all functions associated with the lending of Northwestern materials to other libraries from request through item return as well as scanning of document delivery requests.
Please note: This position is Part Time. Physical requirements include daily lifting / carrying / moving of objects and books weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to reach, bend, climb, stoop, crouch, lift, push and/or pull objects and/or furniture while shelving or maintaining the library.
Retrieves books, journals, and other materials from the stacks and library locations in the Main and Deering libraries. Requests and tracks items from the branches.
Digitizes journal articles and book chapters for delivery to borrowing libraries and NU patrons.
Processes requests received from libraries throughout the world (through OCLC/ILLiad) seeking to borrow materials owned by NU Library, for their users. Materials include books, videos, microfilm and articles. Process includes verifying availability of items through the library's catalog, updating request status, and printing slips. Some requests are routed to branch libraries.
Packs library items in appropriate materials for shipping via UPS or ILDS. Creates UPS shipping records and labels or ILDS manifests and labels. Unpacks and routes returned items.

HS diploma or equivalent required.
1 year administrative support or other relevant experience.
Customer service experience in a fast-paced library, retail or similar environment.

College Degree or working toward a college degree.
At least one year experience in a library or equivalent environment (academic library preferred).
Familiarity with standard library circulation methods and procedures.
Familiarity with Alma integrated library system, ILLiad interlibrary loan management software, OCLC and/or Ares course reserves management software.
