POSITION DETAILSThe Career Services Office at Hostos provides students with career direction and employment options through individual and group counseling, access to resources, job-readiness preparation and practical work experience. At the same time, we promote independence, professionalism and personal responsibility.The Career Services at Hostos Community College seeks applications for a Student Career Senior Advisor. Reporting directly to the Student Career Program Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: * Coordinates employer advisory boards in collaboration with academic departments and Director of Career Services. * Provides career counseling to new students including but not limited to career assessments, resume and internship/job search assistance. * Obtains labor market information for nontraditional occupations and updates on a quarterly basis. * Develops marketing materials such as brochures and flyers. * Coordinates campus workshops, fairs and industry panels tailored around non-traditional careers. * Collects and reports data on nontraditional participants in cooperative education and career counseling services. * Manages Suited for Success Resources room. * Prepares employer advisory board meeting agendas, invitations and conducts follow up with faculty and employers. * Takes detailed notes during meetings and follows up with board members. * Assists Director with collection of data for annual reports.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.The following qualifications are preferred: * At least three years' related experience in Higher Education * Career coaching experience and certification * Strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines * Availability to work evening and weekend hours * Bilingual skillsCUNY TITLE OVERVIEWProvides student career assessment and counseling and provides comprehensive career services programs. * Provides employment and career counseling to students; may provide services to alumni * Administers and interprets career and vocational assessment instruments * Prepares and facilities workshops on career development topics such as job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interviewing techniques * Develops and maintains relationships with employers that can lead to recruitment and hiring at the campus * Assists with planning and presenting career fairs, speakers, employer visits, and other events * Collaborates with faculty and student support service professionals to offer specialized programs and activities * Trains and supervises interns and office staff * Performs other duties as assigned.CUNY TITLEHigher Education AssistantFLSAExemptCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$47,340 - $56,528; commensurate with education and experience.CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
