The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota seeks BE/BC anesthesiologist to join an expanding clinical practice. The Minneapolis VAMC provides cutting-edge surgical and procedural care to veterans ranging from common outpatient procedures to complex cardiovascular, thoracic, general surgical, ENT, urologic, orthopedic, plastic and reconstructive, vascular, and gynecologic surgery. The successful applicant must have recent experience delivering cardiac anesthesia including the use of TEE. Position requires competence in the placement of advanced central monitoring catheters using ultrasound guidance; training/experience in the management of acute perioperative pain including the performance of peripheral nerve blocks; training/experience managing difficult airways utilizing advanced airway management techniques; experience supervising/teaching residents and student nurse anesthetists; and training/credentials sufficient to support eligibility for an academic appointment with the University of Minnesota. Duties include the provision of clinical anesthesia services, administration of anesthesia either by directing CRNAs in an Anesthesia Care Team or by personal administration; performance of nerve blocks and regional anesthesia, teaching anesthesiology residents and student nurse anesthetists.
Workweek is Monday through Friday with evening, night, weekend and holiday call shared equally with staff anesthesiologists.
