Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes decisions on IT Communication and Network Technology matters and ensures achievement of objectives. Manages daily operations and maintenance of network and telecommunication services to the campus including several large IP wired and wireless networks, TDM PBX and VoIP telephony systems, and a trunked radio system. This position has additional oversight of resources responsible for the data network serving the central campus Data Center. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for functional programs. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Reviews and approves recommendations for operational planning and control.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Information Technology principles, theories, and concepts to manage functional area(s) and provide solutions.
Willing and able to learn UCSC policies and procedures in order to determine a course of action based on these guidelines.
Ability to provide effective leadership and management, including in the areas of financial and human resources.
Excellent project management skills.
