This position directs, supervises and coordinates the overall quality and compliance systems for the eye bank. This position leads the development and implementation of regulatory compliance and LEAN Efforts. This position participates in strategic planning, leads regulatory and process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and Six Sigma, serving as the subject matter expert for eye banking quality. Serves as a change agent for the organization, driving measurable results. Develops and leads training activities, acting as a catalyst for innovation. This position also informs research regulatory and compliance activities.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Apply Process Improvement Concepts and Methodologies:
Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies, including the FDA and EBAA (Eye Bank Association of America)
Leads the establishment and implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
Participates in the evolution and refinement of the quality improvement and regulatory compliance processes
Analyzes and recommends changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures and ensures their implementation
Participates in development and implementation of short and long-range strategic plans
Participates in recruitment and retention of professional and nonprofessional staff.
Participates in professional development activities to keep current with trends and practices in quality and eye banking administration.
Undertakes special projects as directed by the Program Director
Develop people as problem solvers to facilitate cultural change.
Responsible for coaching quality and operational improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Facilitate projects to improve quality of care, customer experience, and business productivity.
Understand business strategy, planning principles and their application. Provide process improvement expertise in support of strategic and planning initiatives.
Perform business case analysis including examination of costs, benefits, and risks.
Work with internal/external teams to understand problems, identify, prioritize, implement and evaluate solutions, including collaborating with partners to develop multi-organizational improvements.
Participates in research projects as requested.
Collect and Analyze Data:
Facilitates the development of methods for data collection; collect and retrieve data; design and access databases for decision making.
Conduct basic and advanced analyses to improve process, performance and outcomes.
Develop and analyze mathematical and discrete event simulation models to analyze potential process improvements.
Monitor process and outcome metrics to evaluate and report implemented improvements.
Utilize best practices and contemporary project management tools to produce desired improvement results.
Ensure strategic alignment of projects in the focus areas of quality and safety, people, customer experience and growth and finance.
Lead process improvement teams utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Value Stream Mapping.
Ensure projects are managed through entire life cycle within approved scope, schedule and budget.
Partner with Senior Leadership Team to identify guiding principles and ideal state for new services or space. Assist with implementation of new products or services.
Provide facilitation and training on quality and process improvement efforts at all levels of the organization.
Provide mentoring of critical problem solving skills required for resolution of quality and process issues.
Prepare and present educational content related to process improvement or quality initiatives.
Collaborate with outside organizations to develop staff through conferences, training opportunities, and on-site-visits.
A Master's degree degree in Business Administration or health related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
(3-5 years) administrative, supervisory and program experience
(6 months-1 year) experience in public speaking, technical writing and/or teaching
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required including ability to compose communications and grammatically correct documents in a concise, logical and organized manner
Demonstrate careful attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and effectively, proactively establish priorities and meet deadlines
Proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Office Programs) to include SQL and MS Access databases
Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to build effective relationships within all levels of the organization
Lean/Six Sigma Certification is highly desirable
Leadership experience in a healthcare, philanthropic or educational environment
Experience supporting a Lean cultural transformation
Ability to develop/teach concepts/tools of compliance/process improvement
