Clinical Nurse, RN Access Center, University of Colorado Hospital
We're looking for an experienced RN to work in our busy Access Center at University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. In this position, you will collaborate with the Hospital Manager, Charge Nurses and other key administrative and clinical team members to ensure patients receive the proper level of care. This vital position calls for an understanding of medical necessity and legal and regulatory compliance with admissions. Key to this role is experience with hospital throughput, capacity management, multitasking and prioritizing multiple demands.The Access Center nurse has two primary functions which include coordinating transfers from facilities outside of UCH and performing all patient placement from a centralized location (Access Center), incorporating clinical data and clinical thinking in all decision making. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, and adhering to patient centered care principles, facilitates established processes to expedite movement of patients throughout the organization. Delivers excellent customer service skills and successfully handles a high volume of calls from internal and external customers and staff.
Associates Degree from an NLN or CCNE accredited nursing program with a minimum of 1 year related clinical experience OR Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited baccalaureate nursing program with a minimum of one year related clinical experience.
A BSN is required for new hires or must be obtained within three years of acceptance of the position.
State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
2 years or more experience in critical care or ED setting.
BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
Five years or more of nursing experience in critical care or ED setting. Masters in Nursing degree or Nursing Doctorate degree from an NLN or CCNE accredited nursing program with a minimum of one year related clinical experience preferred
