So what does a Registered Telecommunications Distribution Designer at Michael Baker International do?
The successful candidate will develop comprehensive information and communications technology (ICT) systems designs for buildings including but not limited to telecommunications, audiovisual, and electronic security systems for a broad range of project types. With a current focus on growing Federal, Department of Defense and International project opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Healthcare, Transit, and Adaptive Re-Use, the candidate will work with multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams including architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers. The candidate must demonstrate creative problem-solving, initiative to learn new concepts, organizational skills, an ability to work in a team environment with licensed electrical engineers, and a basic understanding of construction documents and constructability.
Can you walk me through a typical day of a Registered Telecommunications Distribution Designer?
Perform complex analysis, calculations, design, evaluation and inspection for a specific area of technical expertise which includes Telecommunications, Audiovisual, and Electronic Security Systems to support project objectives
Review project plans and specifications and confer with other disciplines and managers to determine assistance required in plan preparation, evaluation of project conditions, design changes and reports
Front-facing to clients. Perform client and project needs assessments, determine and discuss potential solutions, and ensure satisfactory customer service
Prepare and present technical and program information to team members, management, and clients
Plan and conduct the analysis, inspection, design, review, and/or integration to assure the quality of the assigned task
Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and materials
Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry design criteria and standards

Could you be the Registered Telecommunications Distribution Designer we are looking for?
Four year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
10+ years of related experience, 5 of which include experience with the following systems: Data/Voice structured cabling systems, audiovisual presentation and conferencing systems, wireless systems including Wi-Fi, public safety distribution systems, access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance systems
Experience with Autodesk Revit 2015-16/AutoCAD 2015 and Microsoft office (Word/Excel). Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Effective visual/verbal communication skills are essential. Candidate should possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and constructors
Solid organizational and problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail
Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines
Work independently and within a team setting to support proposal related projects and assignments
Ability to provide support to local office, as well as assisting team members in other offices
Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts
Availability to occasionally travel for projects
