The Assistant Director for International Programs reports to the Director of International Education and is responsible for the coordination and operation of education abroad programs and international activities and programming on campus. This includes the management of exchange agreements and study abroad programs, student advisement, recruitment, orientation programming, and crisis management. The Assistant Director for International Programs will also have backup responsibilities in support of international student services and the advisement of international students.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, preferably within international education or closely related field. Minimum one year experience working in study abroad program development, administration, and advising in higher education. Basic knowledge of immigration regulations pertaining to international students and scholars desired. Ability to serve as Designated School Official/Alternate Responsible Officer for the University’s F-1 and J-1 programs. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required per DHS regulations.
Dedicated commitment to the philosophy of international education is essential; strong organizational and verbal/written skills required; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office; proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; ability to maintain office website; knowledge or ability to learn student information system software; Proficiency in at least one language other than English and experience living, working, or studying abroad preferred.
