The Physician Billing Department is seeking an Accounting Operations Supervisor. The Supervisor is responsible for daily planing, coordinating and supervision of clerical staff comprised of Group Leaders and Specialists. He/she will supervise all activities related to the daily operations of the Accounting Operations Team, and give and receive information with professionalism and respect in order to promote a cohesive operation and group. The Supervisor will also be looked to for enthusiasm in promoting and inspiring cooperation and creating synergy and collaboration towards team goals.
Monitors and responds to the Team’s daily operations to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments and responsibilities.
Supervises intermittent and long-term special projects and uphold policy and procedures to ensure accurate and timely completion while ensuring regular work demands are addressed
Assumes responsibility in making operational decisions while keeping the Manager informed. Suggests and implements innovative changes to processes when applicable in order to improve results
Facilitate monthly meetings.
Oversees month end closings.
Recruits, evaluates and hires candidates for Group Leader and Accounting, Payment Posting and Audit vacancies.
Conducts intermittent and formal evaluation of performance
Assists with training and orientation of new employees.
Trains new and existing staff members on updated and new departmental policies and procedures. Provides feedback to the Manager on new employee’s performance.
Provides support and guidance to Group Leaders; manages appropriateness and prioritization of Group Leader’s assigned tasks to ensure that they are able to respond to staff questions in a timely fashion; encourages development and offers guidance in responding to staff questions, issues.
Knowledge of third party reimbursement helpful;
A Bachelor's Degree and project management experience preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of supervision experience desirable
Minimum of 3 years experience in a healthcare environment required
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; strong analytical skills required.
Sound judgment and diplomacy required to respond to critical operational and staffing problems.
Proactive management approach, ability to motivate staff and supervise diversified projects/tasks.
Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a clam and professional manner
Must be able to set priorities and utilize good problem solving skills.
