We have an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Computer Specialist to provide broad systems support for the various projects related to CoMotion's internal and external business and operational activities. These activities include end-user and server level support, enhancement, development, and maintenance of CoMotion's various internal databases, IT systems, and APIs. Other essential functions include providing technical leadership and expertise for systems development in the department.
Technical scope requires deep systems knowledge and an ability to quickly learn and understand the existing systems design and patterns as well as maintain knowledge of IT standards for UW. The scope of tasks performed span all project phases including design, development, implementation and support.
This position will provide enhancements, support, and management of the CoMotion systems and solutions that are central to the services and operations of the CoMotion office and ultimately can directly influence how the office interacts with the UW community. This position is expected to help identify and evaluate existing and emerging technologies and their applicability to meet CoMotion's and UW needs.
With minimal supervision, this person will work with existing CoMotion staff to maintain coverage of system administration, database and application support, as well as end-user support while engaging in systems improvements across all CoMotion IT needs.
Monitor the performance of the server environment & taking appropriate action. Design, implement and test data recovery systems. Design and implement physical and virtual servers. Assist with risk management, security compliance and business continuity planning.
Application Integration & Support:
Configure, test, and install software. Customize and maintain SharePoint servers and websites. Design, implement, modify and maintain databases and related reports using MS SQL, SSRS, and SharePoint. Utilize APIs to integrate operations between different systems.
Support mission critical applications. Troubleshoot application problems in a methodical way and reports results appropriately. Train system users in use of application software.
Work with staff of various experience and levels design, develop, document, and devise methods and processes to meet new and unique work requirements and problems. Help form and manage user project teams to determine, review, and meet stated deadlines. Create and follow formal test plans, documenting results. Review off the shelf systems and work with outside vendors to implement new systems, make improvements to existing systems, or replace and sunset aging systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in CSE, Business Information Systems, or related 3 years of direct end user support as well as management of IT systems
Excellent oral and written communication and problem solving skills including ability to present documentation for training and testing that is professional in appearance, detailed, and accurate.
Service-oriented outlook on relationships with internal and external individuals and groups while remaining positive and flexible to changes.
Demonstrated ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations and to handle difficult customers in a professional manner.
Exhibit good time management habits and demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks.
Willingness to install and lift hardware such as monitors, workstations and hard drives.
