Assistant Director, Private Sector Recruiting and Outreach (Associate Director, Career Development)-(1700011U)
University of Maryland Baltimore, Frances King Carey School of Law is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Private Sector Recruitment andOutreach. The selected candidate will focus on expanding the pool of private sector opportunities for ourstudents. The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall management of privatesector recruitment programs and outreach to employers, with the goal ofincreasing the School of Law's relationships with prospective employers fromlaw firms and corporations. The incumbent will actively advise assignedstudents and students pursuing private sector employment on all aspects oftheir job search, with an emphasis on proactive, continual outreach andmonitoring of students' job search progress. The incumbent will also work withthe Career Development Team to coordinate programs and events designed toeducate and prepare students for the legal hiring process, employment options,and career paths.

Support the Career Development Office in the execution ofcritical functions by collaborating with departmental staff, counselingstudents, contributing to programming and providing outreach to potentialemployers.
Counsel day and evening division students on resume, coverletter and interview preparation and developing short- and long-term job searchstrategies/career plans.
Connect students with appropriate job opportunities basedon student interests and employer needs.
Track students' employment progress and outcomes indepartmental databases.
Plan and conduct career panels and other learningopportunities to educate students about private sector career paths.
Monitor the private sector legal employment market, makingthe data an integral part of the educational information that the CDO providesto students. Employer Outreach
Leverage the law school's reputation, alumni base andprofessional networks to establish positive working relationships withemployers to increase employer participation in Career Development Officeinterview, resume collection and job-posting programs.
Connect employers with individual students who potentiallymatch their hiring needs.
Manage fall and spring recruiting initiatives and relatedpreparatory programs, the group of which includes: On Campus Interviews (OCI),the Washington (DC) Interviewing Program, National Law School Consortiumregional job fairs, Firm Night Program, Mock Interviewing and InterviewingSkills programs.
Based on student's preferences, develop strategies forreaching out to private sector employers providing employment opportunities inthose preferred areas. Other Responsibilities
Coordinate recruitment activities with the RecruitmentSpecialist.
Serve as a Career Development Office representative tostudent groups.
Assist the Assistant Dean and the Deputy Director in othermatters as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Career Counseling or related fieldrequired. J.D. or Master's degree strongly preferred and can be used tosubstitute for relevant experience.
Five 5 years' experience in law firm legal recruiting orexperience in advising law students on legal employment opportunities.
