The Society of the Divine Word, a Catholic religious non-profit organization with worldwide missionary activities seeks an experienced archivist to collect, process and preserve analog and electronic records, documents and artifacts thereby fostering the history, heritage, spirit and charism of the organization. This person directs the safekeeping of archival documents and materials; manages access and collaborates with staff members and researchers seeking information.
The ideal candidate will possess a Masters of Library and Information Science degree with a concentration in Archives Management and have:
experience processing materials and working in an archive,
knowledge of current archival arrangement and relevant descriptive standards (DACS, Dublin Core, LCSH, AAT),
experience in creating finding aids,
familiarity with content management systems, online catalogs and bibliographic utilities,
experience with digitization processes (EDRMS),
understanding and respect of Roman Catholic traditions and terminology,
proficiency with Windows software applications,
excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location: Northbrook / Glenview IL (North Suburban Chicago - not convenient to public transportation)
